Description: This publication shares lessons from a 20-year partnership between the Native Hawaiian community of Papakōlea, the Hawai‘i Alliance for Community-Based Economic Development, and the University of Hawai‘i. It outlines five principles for sustained partnerships, including honoring community values, privileging Indigenous knowledge, fostering co-learning, nurturing reciprocal relationships, and using empowering, capacity-building approaches.
