Description: This paper highlights strategies for building equitable community–academic partnerships in diabetes research. Drawing on insights from eight community and academic leaders, it emphasizes engaging communities from the start, fostering co-learning and shared power, developing local research capacity, and including community members in research teams to enhance both scientific outcomes and community benefit.
